Filling the Vacant Stage

For years, a distinct silence has existed within the cultural heart of the Tampa Bay region. The missing resonance that only a world-class, fully-professional resident ballet company can provide. While our community thrives with record tourism, championship teams, groundbreaking museums, and a top-tier symphony orchestra, the absence of a flagship institution dedicated to the highest caliber of classical dance has left a void in our artistic identity. Ballet Tampa was founded to fill that vacant space. By establishing a permanent home for elite professional talent, training, and stagecraft, we are finally providing the anchor this region deserves. We are not merely launching a season; we are building an institution that belongs to this community. This is your invitation to step into that space with us; to move from the wings to center stage as a foundational architect of this new era.

The Strategic Vision

Our 27-28 season consists of 3 classical masterworks in some of the region’s most prominent and accessible theaters. In addition, our annual New Works series features bold new modern & contemporary choreography from emerging artists.

Ballet Tampa is committed to serving the entire Tampa Bay area, meaning every Ballet Tampa production is performed to audiences in Tampa Bay and beyond.

Each Classical Masterworks performance is accompanied by a live chamber orchestra and, in some cases, features original scores for premiere works.

The Importance of Early Investment

Every great institution begins with a moment of venture. Just as a start-up business requires foundational capital before it can innovate and scale, a professional arts organization requires a robust financial floor before the first curtain can rise. At Ballet Tampa, our 34-week professional contracts and world-class production standards are not just goals, they are commitments. To honor those commitments to our artists and our community, we are seeking “foundational architects” who understand that the most critical investment happens at the beginning. By investing early, you aren’t just buying a ticket to a performance; you are providing the essential seed capital required to build an institution that will resonate for generations

Ballet Tampa is built on a foundation of fiscal strength. Our inaugural season is projected to generate $1.71M in revenue against $1.29M in expenses, resulting in a $379,000 operating surplus. This ‘safety net’ ensures our financial position is sufficient to secure all venues for an expanded second season before the first ticket is sold.

So how is our community partnering together to make Tampa Bay’s first full-time, professional ballet company a reality?

Our financial model is anchored by a high-performing earned income stream, with ticket sales projected at $995,715 (58.3% of total revenue) based on a conservative 75% capacity. While this ratio is notably higher than the industry average, it is a direct result of our lean operational structure, disciplined expense management, and regional performance strategy. By maximizing the efficiency of our operation, we ensure that more of every dollar goes directly toward the artistry rather than administrative overhead.

Venture Philanthropy and individual gifts represent $375,000 (22% of our inaugural season revenue). In our model, these private investments serve as the essential catalyst for professional stability. By securing this foundational capital upfront, we are able to guarantee 34-week contracts for our artists, ensuring that our talent is recruited and retained with the same financial security found at the nation’s legacy organizations. This 21.1 % is the ‘seed equity’ that allows the rest of our high-performing revenue engine to turn.

Corporate Sponsorships account for $222,500 (13%) of our revenue model. We view our corporate supporters not as donors, but as strategic partners. This 12.5% is designed to align local and regional brands with Tampa’s surging cultural identity. By partnering with Ballet Tampa, businesses gain high-visibility access to our estimated 11,000 annual attendees across our regional footprint, effectively bridging the gap between commerce and the community’s highest artistic aspirations.

At Ballet Tampa, our brand lives beyond the stage. Merchandise and ancillary streams generate 6.7% ($114,634) of our total revenue. We view this as more than just a sales figure; it is a measure of our community’s advocacy. Every item purchased is a commitment to our regional identity. By maintaining a lean and efficient ancillary model, we transform basic audience participation into a sustainable revenue source that supports the day-to-day operations of the company.
